Meditation is an important way of maintaining and attaining inner peace. The work of meditation is to bring the energy of the Higher Self into expression in our daily living. Meditations can be an important way of maintaining and attaining inner peace.
The right attitude during meditation is one of listening. During prayer we ask; in meditation we listen. Meditation is about receiving answers. Consistency is most important 15 minutes (ideally done the same time every day) is optimal. Twice a day is even better. Setting a specific location for meditation also allows energy to accumulate. If no special room exists, using one’s bedroom is fine.
There are a couple things to remember re position. Most important: keep the spine straight and head remains relaxed. Feet should be flat. Hands can be palms up, or thumb and index finger touching relaxed. With eyes closed, focus on area between brows. Breathe through nose and out through mouth. The most important thing is to keep the back straight to prevent your mind from becoming sluggish or sleepy. Avoid lying down (might fall asleep). We can sit in the traditional cross-legged posture or in any other position that is comfortable. If we wish, sit in a chair. We should try to concentrate to the exclusion of everything else. You can do this by picking a word or image of something to focus on.
The direction faced during meditation is also important. According to numerous ancient traditions, Facing the East (for enlightenment) or the North (to be free from worldly concerns) are the most beneficial directions to face.
A good way to do this is to just see yourself surrounded by a beautiful golden light. Sit up straight, hands resting in your lap with palms facing up. Close your eyes. Focus on an image or word. Just watch it. Choose a word or phrase to repeat in your mind while you are meditating. This is known as a ‘Mantra’, or word of power.
Allow yourself to simply breathe in through your nose for a count of five, hold it for a count of five, and breathe out through your mouth for another count of five, silentely saying the word ‘breathing’. If your mind wanders, just gently bring back your thoughts or attention to your breating. Doing this regularly for a month will literally change your life. Your intuition will become stronger, you will feel calmer, little things will bother you less. And (most important) you will absolutely connect with your Higher Self.
The best way that we can create change is to change our thoughts from being negative to positive. The positive discovery about meditation is that we are focusing within our self and becoming free of negativity. Meditation techniques simply involve a process of transforming yourself, your thoughts, and recognizing the negative thoughts, and changing them into positive and peaceful thoughts.
One of my life purposes is to get everyone to meditate. I will speak of meditation in other articles, but I really wanted to share this with you. So I hope this is helpful.
