Turning Pain Into Compassion

Sometimes it is so hard to let go of worries and fears. It is especially important, during these times,  to remember that every problem contains a solution. Sometimes finding a way out just entails being silent and letting the ‘Still Small Voice within’ to speak to us. Pema Chodron, a Tibetan Buddhist monk, speaks of a process called ‘Tonglen’, Tonglen is a  practice for connecting with suffering and awakening compassion in everyone. The core of this practice is breathing in other’s (and your own) pain and breathing out and you send out relief or whatever opens up the space for yourself and all those countless others ,whatever you feel would bring relief and happiness. Doing this contains the potential  to get past our immediate pain to use personal suffering as the path to compassion for all beings.
